Supervisor. He has had over 30
years' experience in business and
management and is also an
Incorporated Financial Accountant.
Currently, he is an Honorary
President of the Association for
Coaching, Honorary
Vice-President of the Institute of
Health Promotion and Education,
Honorary Vice- President of the
Society for Coaching Psychology, and an Honorary Vice-President of the
International Stress Management
Association (UK). He was the first
Chair of the British Psychological Society
Special Group in Coaching
Psychology. He has lectured
in Europe, Japan, New Zealand,
Hong Kong and China on a range of
subjects and regularly appears on
radio and television programmes.
He is UK Coordinating Editor of
the International Coaching
Psychology Review, Executive
Editor of Coaching: An
International Journal of Theory,
Research & Practice, and
Editor of the International
Journal of Health Promotion &
Education. He is Co-editor with Gladeana
McMahon with Averil Leimon of the
Essential Coaching Skills and
Knowledge book series published by
Routledge, and Editor of the
Stress Counselling book series for
Sage. His recent books include the
Handbook of Coaching Psychology
(with Whybrow).
Kate Thomas BA MIHPE
MRSH is our External
Contracts Director. She co-authored with
Stephen Palmer and Professor Cary
Cooper, Creating a Balance:
Managing Stress published by The
British Library. She has published
papers on stress theory and stress
management.
Nick Edgerton MSc CPsychol
DipCACP is Co-Director of the
Coaching programmes and is a
chartered psychologist. He is
attached to the Faculty of
Coaching Psychology. He developed
the cognitive behavioural SPACE
model of coaching, counselling and
stress management which he teaches
at the Centre.
Gladeana McMahon FAC FBACP
FIMS MISMA MIHPE is an
Honorary Vice President of the
Association for Coaching. She is a
BACP accredited counsellor and
supervisor, a BABCP accredited
psychotherapist and a UKCP
registered cognitive-behavioural
psychotherapist. She is also an
experienced industrial trainer.
She is News Editor of CPJ, the
Journal of the British Association
for Counselling &
Psychotherapy, and Editor of the
Journal of The International
Stress Management Association (UK
Branch). She has published
articles on counselling and an
interactive handbook Setting Up
Your Own Practice. Her recent
books include Client Assessment
(1997) and the Handbook of
Counselling (1997), both co-edited
with Stephen Palmer, and
Understanding Trauma (1997) with
Doggart. She is Co-editor with
Stephen Palmer of a new coaching
book series for Routledge.
Michael Neenan Dip REBT
AdDipREBT DipCACP is
Co-Director of the Centre for
Coaching programme. He is an
Honorary Vice President of the
Association for Coaching. He
is also an experienced industrial
trainer. He has published articles
and books on REBT including the
Dictionary of Rational Emotive
Behaviour Therapy (1994) with
Dryden, Counselling Individuals: A
Rational Emotive Handbook (1999)
with Dryden and Yankura, and Life
Coaching: A Cognitive Behavioural
Approach (2002) with Dryden.

Siobhain O'Riordan PhD CPsychol
MSCP (Accred) is the
Research Director at the UK Centre
for Health, Safety and Wellbeing
and an Associate Director at the
Centre for Coaching. She is
attached to the Coaching
Psychology Unit, City University,
London, UK.
Jennifer Liston-Smith MA
(Oxon) MSc (Psych) MISMA MIHPE
FRSA is Associate
Director of the Centre for
Coaching. Jennifer specialises in
coaching, training and
organisational stress management
consultancy, working at all
levels, including senior
management and Board level. She
draws on a broad training.
Kasia Szymanska MSc Psychol
AFBPsS is a Chartered
Psychologist, a UKCP registered
cognitive-behaviour therapist and
an Associate Fellow of the British
Psychological Society. She is
Editor of The Coaching
Psychologist published by the
Special Group in Coaching
Psychology (SGCP) and Ex-officio
Member of the SGCP Committee. She
is former Editor of Counselling
Psychology Review.
Dr Alison Whybrow PhD
CPsychol is a Chartered
Occupational Psychologist and a
leading coaching
psychologist. She is Chair
Elect of the British Psychological
Society, Special Group in Coaching
Psychology. She is a Co-editor of
the International Coaching
Psychology Review. Her recent book with Stephen Palmer is The
Handbook of Coaching Psychology.
Barbara Wilson
MSc (SRM) is an
experienced trainer working in the
field of stress and performance
management in both the corporate and
public sector. She also carries out
one-to-one work with clients. She
also has experience of work-related
stress risk assessments, social
research and research consultancy.
She has trained in generic risk
assessment at the Institute of
Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
where she was co-trainer ad
co-developer of the 'Stress in
perspective, Risk Assessment and
Risk Management' IOSH accredited
